Sometimes you think you have the answer to your foot pain when you really don’t.
Foot Pain is one of those symptoms to look at in detail to get the correct diagnosis for. Read what one Doctor in San Diego came across one day:
Today a patient presented with foot, heel and arch pain and had received a diagnosis of plantar fasciitis from a doctor. The top of his foot was swollen……and when I asked him where it hurt he pointed to the swollen area. This was obviously not plantar fasciitis. He said his foot stays swollen and throbs in pain. This was not the typical running injury. When I questioned him about any trauma to his foot he denied it. I asked “Are you sure you did not drop anything on your foot?” He said no. I was puzzled until I looked over the history forms he had filled out. I asked “You had Gout?” He said yes but not now. I said “When you have Gout it it does not go away it just goes to sleep, like a volcano.” The he said” Actually it does remind me of what my big toe had felt like.” After examining his foot and finding no evidence of plantar fasciitis or heel spurs I checked the swollen area. Tender, swollen but no black-and-blue and no history of trauma. “Yep, you have Gout.” I wrote him a prescription for an x-ray and for 16 ounces of pure cherry juice per day. Cherry juice does miracles for gout.
The moral of the story is:
Make sure you tell your doctor your medical history- don’t hide anything!

The usual individual walks about 100,000 miles, which is comparable to 4 times around the globe over the course of a lifetime. And each single step along the way exerts 100s of pounds of pressure on the feet. As a matter of fact, for all wear and tear they bear, your feet hold up surprisingly good. Their complex construction makes them quite strong and flexible. Read the rest of this entry

Typically, the two main causes for ball of foot pain are:
- wearing high heels/fashion shoes
- over-pronation (fallen arches)
Most (young) women like to look stylish and wear a shoe with a medium to high heel. The problem with high heels is that your bodyweight is not evenly distributed across the underside of the foot, but rather 80% of your weight pushes down on only one area of the foot, the forefoot area. i.e. the balls of your feet. This is totally unnatural and before long the entire forefoot structure collapses, leading to constant pressure and friction in the ball of the foot. The body reacts and builds up thick layers of callous in this area which in turn leads to a burning sensation under the foot.
Also, as part of the ageing process women tend to lose the bulk of the shock-absorbing ‘fibro-fatty’ pad under the ball of the foot. Without this natural padding pain develops due to the pressure on skin over bone. Read the rest of this entry

A common injury from sports, or other activities that require a person to put their weight on the ball of their foot, it causes the tendon that runs under the joint at the base of the great toe (the toe that bears the most weight) to strain, resulting in it becoming hyperextended. The toe is tender and inflamed which is painful for the person to walk. Read the rest of this entry
Ifbunions aren’t getting you down, maybe the arch of your foot is causing you pain. Arch pain or arch strain occurs when the tissues in the middle of the foot become inflamed and results in a burning sensation.
The arch of the foot is shaped by a firm band of tissue that joins the toes to the heel bone. This band of tissue plays a vital role in the proper mechanics of the foot and assists in the transfer of weight from the heel to the toes. Thus, when this tissue becomes inflamed, even the slightest movement can cause pain. Read the rest of this entry
